I am almost ready to put the tub back onto the frame but before doing so I want to install anything I can while I have easy access to the frame. So when it comes to the ventilation system I was wondering if it would be ok to just connect the gas tank section of the system and leave the rest of the system disconnected? I am not doing a full military restoration so I am not concerned with authenticity. Also if it is ok to use a partial ventilation system would the lines have to be run before or after installing the tub?

Early M38A1's thru MD 22336 used the vent line from the tank to the air cleaner. Remaining M38A1's used a vent valve only mounted on top of the tank. Now some later USMC M38A1's added the vent and fording plumbing back to their jeeps.

So if accuracy is not your goal then don't fool with that plumbing.
