Hi All: does anyone have any information on adjusting the overhead valves without taking the side panel off my 1955 M38A1, I have a loud tic
in the running engine and i think i have to adjust the tappets.
any info would be appreciated.

To adjust the "overhead" or intake valves you do not have to take the side cover off. But there is no point to adjust half the valves and leave the others (the exhausts) unadjusted. You should adjust both especially if noisy. To remove and install the side cover is not fun, but I think you should do it anyway. Adjust them periodically, noisy or not, quiet valves with too tight clearances are more likely to cause problems/burn.
