I found the invoice. It was ordered as a complete kit. The line item on the invoice only states:

804533K Steering Gear Box Sector Shaft Repair Kit 15/16"
Fits 50-52 M38

Well that's good news. Who was the vendor on that invoice? Your Kit part number on your invoice is 804533K which is not even close to the three recall part numbers:

Quote:
Edited by Wes K :
Both 7/8' and 15/16" shafts are effected by the recall. This is directly from the recall announcement by Omix-Ada: " If you have replaced an Omix steering sector shaft, part numbers 18027.01 (7/8” shaft), 18027.03 (a repair kit with bushings and 7/8” shaft) and 18027.02 (15/16” shaft) identified in this campaign." so be careful and do not assume since you have a 15/16" shaft you are good to go!

It is odd that your 804533K kit came with all those Omix-Ada numbered parts bags:
18029.01 Bearings
18029.03 Bushing
18029.04 Seal
18029.07 Bushing

but without a number for the shaft itself.

The vendor was Kaiser Willys. Order placed April 2014.

I got a reply from Carl at Walck's and he uses the Crown shaft in his 804533 kit and has for a few years.

Hi Horse,
This post and your question is buried in the "M-Series Parts Supply and Service Review" part of the forum ---- where nobody is likely to see it.

I recommend that you post your question as a new topic in the "Technical Knowledge Base" forum. You'll get a lot more response.

Good luck!

Thank you

I just noticed in one of Wes first postings that the recall effected both shafts so I will take it out.

Thanks for pointing the other out.
