Can anyone tell me the ID of the Tool Box Latch Ring so I can form a new one around a socket and if the ends were welded together or not? I'm also assuming the ring is round even though the one attached to the box is a "D".

Thanks,

Mike B Smile

Hi Mike,
Coincidentally I had the camera out taking photos in the same area, so here you go. The inside of the D-ring (riveted to the forward edge of the box) is 1-3/16 inch across the base. I can't tell if it's welded or not because the joint can't be seen under it's clamp. The other triangular shaped ring on the lid isn't welded, and I don't know if it's deformed over the years into a triangle and should also be a D-ring or not. Haven't researched that for photos in the TM's or the Reference Guide. Am guessing that both should be D-rings, common at many hardware stores.

Figure 14 on page 40 of TM9-1804B also shows it pretty good.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
