I have a solex carb on my 53 A-1 because the jeep didn't have the original carb on it when I bought it.
So I have a couple questions concerning parts needed to connect the inlet side of the carb to the oil bath air cleaner canister. Will the air horn from a CJ 5 mount to the carb and will this air horn connect to an original A-1 cross over tube? _________________ 1951 M37 WOW, 1953 M37 WOW, 1954 M37 WOW, 1953 M38-A1, 1954 M38-A1, 1964 M151-A1, 1967 M151-A1, 1968 M151-A1, 1978 M151-A2, 1989 M35A2C, 1965 M416, 1966 M416, 1967 M416

The air horn does the job fine on the M38A1 when used with the more common Carter WO and YF carbs. You'll have to get your hands on a CJ5 airhorn and see how it fits the Solex. _________________ Wes K

Wes,
The non original carb that was on the jeep before I replaced it with the solex was a crown automotive. I think if I find one of those carbs the CJ5 air horn should work.
Crown Auto sells carbs but does not manufacture them. You'll need to be more specific and give us the actual Manufacturer's name and model for the carb that was on there before the solex. _________________ Wes K

I believe its an older solex but the air inlet is straight. Part number is P-3RE and looks to be dated below with 12-99 _________________ 1951 M37 WOW, 1953 M37 WOW, 1954 M37 WOW, 1953 M38-A1, 1954 M38-A1, 1964 M151-A1, 1967 M151-A1, 1968 M151-A1, 1978 M151-A2, 1989 M35A2C, 1965 M416, 1966 M416, 1967 M416

Kaiser Willys Auto Supply's website is advertising 2 styles of air horns that they say fit Solex carbs. _________________ Ron D.
