Yes they are a very impressive piece of equipment. The recoiless rifle has been with the Army and USMC for well over 50 years and is still a very potent weapon. Us Air Force types had them on our M715 5/4 ton pickups and some of our M151's in SEA. One of the guys up here in Wisconson has a nice one also. There was a M151 with one for sale in Minnesota all last year for about $14,000. _________________ Wes K

I have a M38 windshield for the 106mm RR for my M38. My big goal for MVPA's convention in Portland next year is to have one mounted in my jeep. Though I will highly unlikely have the real thing (only a dewat one), a mock up is in the plans. I have just recently seen a real 106 and took lots of pictures. I also have the manual, with the M38A1 and 106mm.
If anyone comes across mounting brackets and parts please email me..grant |

Gosh-
I can remember Training for the "Davy Crockett" Team, as an 11C MOS at Fort Gordon, Georgia. A Nice 106mm Recoiless Rifle, with a potential "85 meter" backblast area.
Actual Range of 106 was appx 1800 to 2000 meters.
106 was also "Nuclear" capable.
If you were a "Member" of the Davy Crockett Team- Then you would remember such terms as:
Willie Peter Round (meant for the White Phosphrous .50 Cal Spot Round. Where ever that round went, that 106 was going, too.).
"H.E. Quick": (meant for High Explosive Round-going down range Now).
Most Gunner/Driver/Loader MOS's were: 11C, 11F (Army). |

I got to fire one of those recoiless rifles mounted on a jeep while pulling guard one night on an LZ in Vietnam. " Clear the back blast area, major caliber on the way" Then I threw hand-grenades off the hill for a while. Gotta love it!! _________________ Tropical Veteran
