Back to Friday content drops on Green Iron TV. This time we are fixing an oil leak that popped up in the 53' M38a1. What we though was a simple leak at a fitting, turned into a full day project to get it all sealed up. So please take a moment to watch and leave a comment, give it a like, and if you haven't already, please hit the subscribe button to keep up on all the military vehicle content.

Hi Dave,
Curious that you trimmed and re-flared that leaking tube (hard line) instead of replacing both lines with flexible rubber hose called for in the manual?

Not concerned that vibration might cause failure again in the future?

I was just fixing what was there. This is the only vehicle in my motorpool that I didn't due the restoration on and I'm in the process of trying to correct the small things that were wrong. As I get farther into the re-restoration I will likely change this line out, but I had an up coming parade and was trying to get it back on the road for that.

Another episode of Green Iron TV is up. This time we are heading to the National Asparagus Parade in Hart MI. It's a larger parade and we load up veterans from the VFW and lead the parade through town. We had the M38a1, M715, m725, and the M35a2 in the parade along with another local fellow's M38. Sit back and enjoy a little bit of parade time. Thanks and like always, please leave a like on the video and a comment and if you haven't already please hit the subscribe button to keep up on all the Green Iron TV episodes.

More Green Iron TV, this time we are installing a NOS radio power cable in the 53' M38a1. This is the proper power cable to supply the radios and is just one more thing that I'm doing to bring this Jeep up to correct in its restoration. I'm so glad that Midwest Military had this power cable kit in-stock. And coupling it with the radio cable I picked up at the Findley swap meet, we have this step in the restoration complete. Like always, please take a moment to like and comment on the video and if you haven't already, please hit the subscribe button to follow along on all the Green Iron goodness.

Nice video Dave! One thing I would have done different, the ground wire would have been connected directly to the frame and not to a body mount bolt that has a rubber cushion that could flatten out over time making a loose/bad connection.

True, Actual military installations had a separate bolt hole in the tub "L" bracket for the ground bolt.

I had seen that in some of the previous posts, but could not find an extra hole in mine. so I did the quick and dirty of just adding an additional nut to the body mount bolt to make the ground. I'm not to worry about it losing ground over time, as the radios in my Jeeps are more for show than anything else. I think in the last 10 years, the radio has been switched on less than 5 times. Mainly just to show someone that it is a working radio at a show.

Hi Dave,
I thought you were the Dave of Delta Team Decals?
Or is that a different Dave?

Yep, I'm one and the same, I just don't like to make it obvious in my videos so that it doesn't sound like a commercial.

This Friday's episode of Green Iron TV is from the 4th of July and the static display we had out with 4 of the trucks. Unfortunately, since we didn't have any local parades, we instead put out a display in a high traffic area on a busy road in a tourist town for folks to enjoy the trucks. We had tons of people stopping for pictures and to check out the vehicles. Plus, we take a look into how I set the M715 up for static displays with all the mannequins and period gear. So like always, please take a moment to check it out and leave a like and a comment on the video and if you haven't already, please hit the subscribe button. Happy Independance Day America!

On this episode of Green Iron TV we are showing how to set up an old school transistor radio to play period music and AFVN jingles and PSA announcements. Using just a cheap MP3 player and powered speaker to create great sound and add to the atmosphere at shows and displays. I have about a 5 hour loop of music and jingles so that you can listen during a show and usually not hear a repeat.
