Frank,

I can't think of any company offering the L134 new. I would suggest looking around Thailand for an older PE95 stationary power plant. A lot of these used M38 serial numbered engines.

Are you desiring to pay freight costs on one from here in the US?

The Philippine Islands would be another nearby source.

Thanks for the super tip wesk, but does not seem to exist in Thailand. Googling can they not. But there must be companies in the United States where you can buy reconditioned these engines?
Freight costs are not care .If you live in Thailand you are happy at all to find something.
I'm looking at the Philippines and in Thailand by this generator, but better would I pay more and have an overhauled engine.

Surplus City Jeep Parts used to sell exchange overhauled engines. The last time I checked they required you to send them your engine for the overhaul. I would speak directly with Surplus City and John at Midwest Military. All places I have just checked require your core first. One way to work this issue out is to buy a rebuildable core from someone here in the states or Europe/Middle East and have the seller ship the core to the rebuilder close to them. You will have to confirm up front that the rebuilder will and can ship overseas.

I would look around in Thailand and VietNam. The US had a large military presence in both countries in the 1960s and had a lot of Jeeps there so there should still be some around. There is, or was, an E-bay seller named Blue Moon Scooter (IIRC) that was selling a lot of US military vehicle parts and he showed his location as VietNam.

Also given the ingenuity that the locals displayed when I was in Thailand I would think that they could fix or MAKE just about any part that you would ever need.

Frank,
Here's a quote for shipping by air to Bangkok.

Quote:
Good afternoon!

I have a quote for shipping your engine;

Air freight to Bangkok would be $779.00. Where is the engine currently located?

-Reed

S & J Engines
817 N. Lincoln St.
Spokane, WA 99201

800.942.7800 ext 303

This company also quoted an overhaul at $1700

If you purchased a rebuildable "Long Block" L134 from a member in Washington State you could get by at a reasonable price. Say you bought the core for $200. Say $150 to transport it to S&J Engines, $1700 to overhaul it, and $779 freight to you. Total cost delivered to Bangkok $2829.00.

Wou, thanks so much Wesk you are the number one!!!!

Prices are great but to leave to buy from thailand from a used engine and then send in a repair shop is not so easy for me. Individuals can not send heavy motors. They wish that you collect all and to get addresses of dealers where i can find used engines,is not so easy. I would also like to pay someone of the organization, but from Thailand and with my bad English to ascertain whether an engine is to overhaul or scrap, is not so easy. Something new buy is easier.

jeep joe, the problem in Thailand is, that everyone love willys but not the old engines. You will find almost no Willys with original motors. When you open a hood, then your stomach will turning so much. Tojota or Nissan is waht you see. The engines will have all brought to the scrap. Unfortunately

Man, I'd sure contact Rommel in the Phillipines.

I know there are Willys engines in that country.

C90001, I think they're still making CJ type Jeeps in India but I have no idea what engine they use. You might want to check into that. Also Mitsubishi made Jeeps under license from Willys for the Japanese SDF. They had diesel engines but it might be worth looking into converting to one of those engines. I don't know if you're trying to stay completely original or not.

Jeeperjoe, i do not like Mitsubishi and if I saw only the logo in my Jeep, I would be poor. But i will also look in Inda for a engine. Its not far from us.
