I removed this band from my M38 39 years ago. I don't recall from where. Can anyone help? Thanks

I can't read what it says in the picture. Can you post the text? If it's around the steering column then my guess is that it's a replacement vechicle ID that was put on by the DMV of one of the states.

STK-G2740 8358318

Not anything put on by DMV. I purchased the M38 from the Military Surplus and was the first to tag it for civilian use.

Do you recall it's location around the steering column?

No, I've heard but don't recall exactly where. I've never seen it done, AFIK Florida has never done anything like that and the ones that I've heard of were from places like Montana and Oregon. I think most of the DMV ones started with the two letter abbreviation of the state.

Mine was around the column, I had two different bands. one was the motor serial and the other some type of DMV.

Could be a military property tag identifying the jeep as STK-G2 with the ORD Stock number of 740-8358318.

Note the similarity with this M38A1 serial plate's Ord Stock #
