I have got voltage measurement with a digital voltmeter from my M38. It ranges from 28.7 to 28.9 volts with engine at a idle. At 2500 RPM, the voltage ranges from 27.7 to 28.2 volts. Is there any reason to be concerned regarding voltage at idle and my voltage regulator really needs some cleaning/adjustment or should I relax about it?

In the case of cleaning/adjustment how should I proceed?

As a general rule the 24 V military systems should have a stabilized regulated voltage reading between 27.5 and 28.5. Your system is performing satisfactorily. It is not uncommon to se 0.1 or 0.2 drops in output after acceleration of the engine.

If it's not broke don't fix it. Wink

If you do have a problem down the road then just follow the steps in the TM 9-1825B and other references on our downloads page.
