M38A1 engine problems

Hi all,

I finally managed to extract the threaded plug with a left male thread cutting
Now I need to know if on the camshaft sprocket is the sign of timing, because I can not see it.

Some do not have a mark.


Stock timing gear with dot.


Aftermarket timing gear without the dot.

but I can not figure out how to do
start from any position ?

You lay a straight edge or draw a line across the front side of the gear aligned with the keyway and dividing the gear into two equal halves each having 28 teeth.

but with keyway at 12 o clock or is indifferent to its location ?

The keyway will be in the same relative position no matter which way you rotate it.


Here is what it looks like if you rotate it upside down. You still start counting the 15 teeth from the same spot.

and I have to start counting clockwise or indifferent ?
which is the torque specifications of the nut 1-1/16 inch of pulley drive ?
