Torn my engine down. Only cam and exhaust valves left. Have The flat head valve spring compressor tool. Tried to and have compressed the springs. The issue is that the valve won't pop out of the springs, so I can remove the clamps/rings. Is there a trick to this ? Read manual and youtub, just seems not to be working. L134 block exhaust.

If you have
Quote:

Then the head must already be removed and all you need to do is smack the face of the exhaust valve with a brass hammer.

Rubber won't cut it! Get a brass hammer. If still no joy then you'll need a "C" type valve spring remover.

Here's a "C" type being used on a Ford Flathead V8.

Woot, got them. Used the regular flat heat spring compressor tool, but when compressed i put steel shims between its jaws and decompressed tool slightly. Tapped with 4 lb sledge and block of wood, worked perfect, and no damage. Thx wes.
