Disassembled my front axle and noted that I have mixed Bendix and Rzeppa shafts. The Rzeppa shaft (right side) has been modified to fit the Bendix flange. A new spline has been cut over the original.
Has anyone seen this before?
Any recommendations?
John

Not sure what issue you are having. The splines are the same dimension and count for the Bendix, Rzeppa and Spicer cardan joint axles shafts for the Dana/Spicer 25 and 44 axles used on the M38 and M38CDN. The early Bendix had a threaded end on the outboard splines for the front axle nut before the M38 came on line which was not used on later axles.

Can you post pictures of it?
I have extra front shaft if interested. I will have a look today and see what kind it is. I'm in Cambridge so not too far from you. _________________ 1952 M38 project

Hey John. My buddy has both front and rear end complete for a M38. I can check with him as to what he wants for them. They are up near Port Elgin.

Wes,
I am finally getting around to reassembling my front axle. You very kindly assisted me in identifying the axles shafts in my M38 last year and I wondered if there are any concerns with assembling mixed Rzeppa and Bendix axles shafts.
Assuming I set the turning stops to the lower of the two specifications do you see any concerns?

Many thanks,
