Just a wee bit of help with your search:
An IAD-4004UT distributor was used on the first M38's that use the remote (Firewall mounted) radio noise filter.
The later IAU-4006UT and AUT distributors had the filter capacitor built in.
Note the top photo shows the large diameter lead from the firewall mounted filter entering the cap on top. That illustration was out of the first m38 TM 9-804 that used the installation from the early 1949 CJV35 installation. The lower photo on right shows the correct side entry for the IAU4004UT.
Here's the early ORD 9 showing the IAU4004UT. Item "NN" is the Base.
Here's the late ORD 9 showing IAU4006UT & AUT. Item "NN" is the base.

I may be able to help. I have a spare "NN Base, Assy" for the IAU 4004-UT.

| I have the original 4004 on my 10675 but I would like to have a spare.I have several of the later distributors to salvage the main parts from. |

OK, I have the part NN base only, PM with a reasonable offer if you're interested. Spares are good, I have a complete 4006 on the shelf to drop in my M38 if I have a problem.

| Somewhere I have it but it has been 30 years sense I last worked on this.My father worked on jeeps from 1947 when the Air Force broke from the Army to the 70's when they began to cut them up with a torch.He saved the tune up documentation when they threw out all of the M38 manuals.I only wish he would have saved some of the manuals. |

| I found the TM 9-1825B Autolite electrical equipment manual with all of the Autolite electrical data.I don't guess there is any way to post the two pages here of the advance curves which include the 4004.It looks like there were 64 different Autolite distributors used up to 1952 when this manual is dated. |
