I am rebuilding the window assy and need the window welting located on the front of the window where it bends to fold (not under the window/cowl which I have). Kaiser does not have and wonder if any of you have located a source or is this a common welting used elsewhere?
Also have any of you come up with alternate ways to replace the 'handles' that the rests the window on the hood? Kaiser wants 45$ for these and thought I might put a stainless bolt in with a rubber thread protector.
thanks friends for all your help! _________________ Lee Long

Hi Lee,
Don't forget the M38A1 and early CJ5 shared many parts.
Also, Kaiser Willys although they have a nice catalog are not the only
suppliers. Banging around on your keyboard for parts also check
Midwest Military, Army Jeep Parts, RJ Fitzpatrick, Peter DeBella,
Brent Mullins Jeep Parts, Rapco, and others.
Don't forget eBay for parts, like the windshield supports you are looking for.
At times you can find good used parts for a decent price, that just need
a little TLC.
Try talking to suppliers on the phone. Many times their databases are not
up to date.
And, don't forget the brothers here. There is a wanted page. Sometimes
you'll find someone who has extra parts.
Lee, I am not quite 100% positive which parts you are needing since the description terms you are using do not match any terms in the supply manuals for the probable items in question. Try reviewing the parts manuals and offering the proper name for the item you are having issues with. You can even post the part number so we can all be on the same page.
These parts manual are on our downloads page and free if you need them.
Here's the illustration from the M38A1 parts manual. Which items do you have questions about? _________________ Wes K

So the hood rest is what is labelled a 'Bumper' according to the diagram.
I cannot find the window weatherstrip that is on my Jeep - unfortunately most every Jeep windshield picture (closeup) is from the inside of the jeep - not the front. It is not on the parts diagram that Wes sent - I had looked here before. Many rebuilt Jeeps appear to have this weatherstrip - it is on the front side of the window - aligned with the two fold down hinges - horizontally under the window. I wish I could attach a quick picture of mine but will have to figure out how to post to my website and then link to it here. _________________ Lee Long

Are you talking about between the windshield frame and cowl? The weather stripping has a 3/4" tall lip that rises up onto the front of the windshield frame that might be what you are referring to? _________________ Matt

Wilfreeman figured it out! Mine are totally rotten and looks like two pieces, while taking it out today I saw that it might be one piece - now I know why I confused everyone.. thanks everyone! _________________ Lee Long
