The same place the majority of our serial number cutoffs are found. The M38 ORD 9 SNL G-740 parts manual. In this case your answer was found on page 338. Part # 7412583 Mounting plate.

As for the Willys/Kaiser Patent plates on the front end of the right rear wheel house, all the m38's and m38A1's had that plate there in addition to the military serial plate on the dash.



All M38's and M38A1's had both plates


This is the early M38 dash with the plates screwed to the dash.


Late (after MC34151) data plate mounting.

When the gas fired heater kits were installed the Motor Pool would move these plates to the defroster duct.
