Working my way through carburetor linkage install and adjustment in TM9-8012 paragraph 130 on page 156, can anyone tell me the correct length of the throttle rod 7375111 (WO-A-1273), ORD9 page 65 Item E and page 88?
Mine is 7-3/4 inches and it looks to be at least 1/2 inch short after adjusting it all the way out to max length. Except for the piece where the pedal return spring hooks on, it looks original to me but could have been modified (cut) as the truck had a solex carb on it. With it at max length, the idle adjusting screw on the YS-637 carb rests nowhere near it's stop so it would have no function at all if I hook it up this way. Appreciate the comments and advice.

Mine also measures 7 3/4". I have the military carb and it works just fine. It must be somewhere else.

I think it's pretty obvious someone used that small plate to provide a splice point to extend the rod and as a replacement spring anchor since the bellcrank upper rod end is incorrect for the M38. Since the rod is the right length now he can use it and find a new correct bellcrank or lengthen the top bellcrank rod and bend it so the lateral rod stays level with the head gasket. _________________ Wes K

Gentlemen --- thank you! It always amazes me that you can get so far out in front of me just from a photograph.
Yes, the pedal return spring wasn't connected in that photo (it can be seen hanging from the carb retainer). Hooking it up just confirmed the problem.
My rod is one continuous length (7-3/4 inch) and that flat piece that hooks the other end of the pedal return spring is threaded into it with locking nuts on the front and back. It looks homemade (but old) to me. The threaded end of the rod goes thru the swivel coupling (at the top of the piece that I have in place of the correct Item T) with no room to spare, just threaded in flush to the backside of it.
I'll be calling John this week.

Ron,
There is a little gizmo that slips onto the assembly at the firewall end that the return spring hooks into. I bet you can't hook that spring into it right now!
Be sure and get that little guy with the rest of it but it probably all comes together.
My spring and clip were missing and Bubba had a humongously long spring tied in on the other end of the carburetor linkage with the spring mounted in a hole he drilled into the radiator shroud................................................

My pedal to the floor is a little less than 1 inch --- something wrong with that --- idle to wide open throttle in less than an inch? Going to cut to the chase and order the correct part....

I found this thread on a search.
I noted in the ORD 9 SNL G-740 Service Parts manual that both the WO A1175 MB/GPW/CJ2A throttle rod is listed, as well as the A1273 mentioned above.
The A1175 is sold by many, but the A1273 is hard to find.
