Which side of the firewall does the auxilary plug cap face? Engine side or passenger side? _________________ Tropical Veteran

Thanks for the photo. I don't believe my wiring harness came with the sockets to tie into that aux. plug. So guess I will have to find number 10 wire in the harness and cut into it. That's not good cause I'll have to unrap the tap.
First I'll double check to see if it accomodates for it. _________________ Tropical Veteran

what i thinck :
the aux.socket seemes only to be on the early M38, wiringsets for later M38 do not have the cable between the socket and the fuses besides the battery box, on different diagrams there is no aux. socket ( also not on an M38a1) _________________ 1942 GPW 71336 my son's jeep restored now

What is the purpose of this plug? It seems to be located in a very difficult location to access easily in the field. _________________ Dan

I guess since the firewall has a place for it, that doesn't mean it is suppose to be one mounted there does it?
Also I would think that it is suppose to face the engine compartment so it could be accessed easier and the wire could be attached to a hot wire behind the instrument panel.
Maybe it was there so one could use a trouble light under the hood. _________________ Tropical Veteran

On my M38 the plug faces in on the passenger side. Your right, it does not seem to be very easy to access.

Doesn't make sense. The lower circuit breaker gets in the way of it. _________________ Tropical Veteran
