Does any one know what this stencil is from the drivers side below the door and mirror on an M38 in black paint.

TB ORD 385 was an old standard for overseas shipment of Army equipment. It would indicate that jeep was prepped to be shipped overseas Dec 1950.

I was looking at some old photos when I stripped the 4 layers of paint off my 1950 M38.This was painted on the first layer of factory paint. I am thinking of having a stencil made and put this back on the vehicle.Do you know what the FTHD is?

I have never been able to locate a copy of that old TB ORD. You will need to find a copy of it first to answer your question.

I do not recall seeing that stencil on any M38's waiting at Willys to ship.

Here's a crated M38A1 without it.

Here's a M38 doing a factory production line Dyno test.

It wasn't on the right side in the factory shipping lot.

This is a very recent arrival from Willys in Korea and you can barely make out some black stencil below the mirror.

I am having a tough time finding any factory shipping area photos of the driver's side of the M38.

Wes,
TB 384 is supposedly included in this e book:
