Time for new tires for one of the M38s. This time around I have decided to try the Coker "Firestone" Radial version of the 7.00-16 NDCC (31-7R16).

Radials supposedly should not be run with inner tubes, or so I have been lead to believe. So while the rims are bare for painting I will try a coating to seal all the rivet holes where the center is riveted to the rim. Has anyone tried this?

I also think the 117mph rating is much more in tune with the ol' 38, LOL.

Thoughts?

I have those on my M-38 / M-100 and M-38A1 and run tubes in all of them with no problems... You are not going to get to speeds where tubes will hurt you... I also run the Flaps in the M-38 and 100...

My only problem was finding a tire dealer that knew how to deal with tubes when putting them on...

Well my local "llantas" store does them for me no problems, so got that covered.

I am hoping for longer life. I know that they will be much better riding especially when cold.

If your main purpose in purchasing the Coker 'Firestone' NDCC #676467 is to get RADIAL tires, you may want to do further research.

Very interesting and confusing. Same part number but described as a bias ply and carries a bias ply size nomenclature, where as the ones I bought carry a radial nomenclature. I was assured they are radials, and I have free return on them so we will see.

Ugg!

First I've heard of radial NDCCs. Pretty sure they are bias ply, as the price would probably in the $200 range if they made them. The $154 Firestone price has been the same for awhile now.

The Coker tires for $154 are BIAS PLY tires... I have 11 of them purchased in lots since 2005...

You are right. The seller was confused about it too. A few calls to Coker verified they are bias ply. I'll live with them, just thought radials would be an improvement. *sigh

There are no radial NDCC tires. But if there were, then you can run them with radial tubes, which they do make. The confusion comes in because when radial tires first came out, they flexed more than the common bias ply tires and quickly caused the tubes to fail. That has been corrected in the marketplace.

What about the STA Traxions? I've been thinking of them when I do need replacements, for the better tread. I mostly drive on beach and sand roads as well as sandy pavement.
