I am recreating the plumbing for the PCV valve on an early (51) M38.

The short nipple and 90 degree pipe fitting that comes off the manifold, what was the material they were made of - black iron, galv, or brass?? I can't tell from photos and the parts book doesn't specify.

If someone has an original set up, what is the length of the nipple coming off the manifold?

Thanks, Jeff

Bob Westerman has already done all the leg work on the M38 fording & vent system both early & late. He contributed a lot of it to the CJ3A page. We have some of it shared here.

In your case I strongly suggest you view all of Bob's documents and become familiar with both early & late systems. Then follow Bob's parts listing which marries the ORD 9 with the civvy parts market.

There are a thousand or so technical photos in my mjeeps photo album. a very good reference library where you can find the answers to about 90% of the questions asked on these boards.

Wes, you always step in to save the day.
I had looked in my G-740 parts book, Miller's M38 book, paged thru your gallery a couple of times (always see something new, so not time wasted), searched the M forum directly and using GOOGLE. I found, and printed out the great Bob Westerman diagram for Early M38's Ventilation System, but none of it had the lengths and material type I was looking for...

Then I opened up the CJ3A page link you posted above to Bob's detailed ventilation "Parts Database", which had eluded me until then, and there it was looking at me - galvanized and 1 1/4" long!

Thanks again, and I am one step closer to getting her back on the road!
Jeff

Here is what is on mine and some measurements. Actually I installed the fording valve (NOS) and 90 degree fitting but the other was there and bubba'd in differently.

That works Rick. Thanks for the photo.

Now I need to find the fording valve... without breaking the bank... again.
