I have just fitted my M38A1 jeep engine with my remanufactured crankshaft. This has been overhauled in a local shop.
The conter weight bolts were previously spot-welded to the crankshaft.
However, they have been sharpened for grinding the crankshaft and then bolted with loctite without the spot weld on the bolts.
This, however, I have overlooked and the engine is completely assembled.
Would the conter weight bolts be sufficiently fixed with the loctite or should everything loose for the spot welding?
Hopefully its ok like that .

Without knowing the exact Loctite product used and the exact process used to install the loctite and the bolt it would be impossible to offer any confidence in the lack of the welds. You will be somewhat at risk for the length of time you operate the engine without the welds. Most of these cranks also had spot welds between the weight and the crank.
I also point out that none of the Military manuals make it clear what should be done if the weights are removed not can I find it in any of the civilian manuals. _________________ Wes K
