My 1952 M38 is in need of a full set of springs. I have found NOS rear springs, but apparently, NOS 10-leaf front springs are no longer available and I wonder what folks are using instead.
Walck's offers a 10-leaf front spring that does not have the correct military style spring pack clamp, and they also say this, "Note: Some M38 models had a different pivot bolt and bushing setup and these springs can be used but need some modification at the pivot bracket on the frame."
What modification is needed?

Thanks. I will shoot Daryl an e-mail and find out more about these.

Chuck, I seem to recall the pivot difference between the CJ and the M38 was the bolts size.

M38 - 7/16-20 x 3" ORD # 124155

CJ - 9/16-16 x 2 7/8" WO # 384228

I think you are correct. I remember putting some CJ springs on an M38 frame years ago and now I seem to remember having to drill out the pivot bolt bracket spring mounting holes. I wonder if M38 pivot bushings could be installed in the CJ springs, I'd rather not modify the brackets.

Checking with Daryl, he has NOS replacement springs that were made in 1966. He says they fit but don't look like the original springs. He is suppose to send me a photo and I'll share it here when he does.

Well, after all the work to try to find the correct font springs with the 7/16" pivot bolts, I finally looked under my jeep to discover that my front sprig pivot bolts have already been changed to the 9/16" bolts with the grease fittings. So much for trying to keep things original! At least it will be easier to find replacement springs now.
