Looking for correct bushing to fix egged-out tie rod hole in my passenger side dana 25 knuckle on 1952 M38.

Also need to find correct tie rod end replacement (think 3/4 may be too big for my M38 tube).

Any part number suggestions or local vendors/members referrals along my route appreciated, traveling through Dallas TX today (from Ft Sill, OK, to Alexandria, LA), so looking to pick up the required parts along the way to drill out the knuckle hole & install new taper bushing insert & new tie rod end when I get back later today.

Rebuilt the front axle a little more than one year ago, and the hole was bad but got it tight with washers just to get by, but now its egged out to the point that a new knuckle or repair of existing with tapered bushing insert is required.

Itís for my semi-daily-driver so looking for quick fix to get back on road with minimal downtime, if possible.

Thanks in advance!

I think your best bet is to carry the new rod end, and the knuckle to your local machine shop and have them build you a custom V bushing and have them size the new hole in the knuckle to fit the new bushing tight enough. There were several part numbers based on early vs late axle NOS parts and the service replacement parts. Research your ORD 9 SNL G-740 carefully. Tie rod ends are on page 264 & 265 and the referenced axle part numbers are found on page 217.

Or, safer yet, replace that knuckle housing. Cheaper than a custom tapered bushing getting made.
MWM has the housings in stock.

Does the tapered hole on a Dana 30 that receives a YJ/TJ tie rod end on late-model jeeps have the same tapered shape as the tapered hole that receives the tie rod end on the Dana 25 knuckle from an M-38? Something like this is what Iím looking for (just donít know if this provides the correct tapered hole size for an M-38 tie rod end): https://teraflex.com/shop_items/tj-driver-side-high-steer-kit-stock-tapered-insert-sleeve

Agree that going with a new knuckle is probably the safest & best long-term solution, just trying to avoid the down-time since axle internals were recently overhauled & doing the knuckle replacement correctly will take a little more time than installing a tapered bushing & new tie rod end.

Does anyone know if there is a terra-flex type bushing (or something comparable) that would work?

As you said in your initial post:

The referenced tapered bushings are designed for a round hole, not an egg shaped hole. That is why I explained your only repair option is a custom bushing installed in a perfectly matched hole. This means a reaming til round of the hole in the knuckle and providing sizing of that hole to insure proper interference fit with the custom bushing insert.

You'll have a tough time getting an answer to this question. One would have to have either the knuckles or tie rod ends for both jeeps laying on their table.

If you search that same web site for the CJ version of that TJ bushing they don't show one available which leads me to believe they are significantly different.
