My 51 M38s NOS fuel shut off valve is leaking fuel from the top of the valve. I know at one time there was a rebuild kit for them that included new graphite washers, and the valve itself has become scarce in new condition...

Now what? I suppose I can put some straight tubing there in the mean time to eliminate the leak.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Probably going to have to make new gaskets for it.

Make sure all the fittings are tight too!

I would substitute a modern brass ball valve.

I pulled the valve apart, removed the additional brass fittings. Everything looked fine. Reassembled everything and tightened up the valve nut 1/8th of a turn past tight and so far no leaks. I was shutting the valve everytime I parked the M38 for any length of time... I might just stop playing with it.

Kaiser Willys may have a lead on more NOS fuel shut offs this summer - so I might buy a few extras then.
