Bill,
If the operator wants he can connect a headset and a handset to the two receptacles, Labeled Audio, at the bottom center front of the RT-68. Or a local control box like a C-375 can be connected and mounted up on the dash and he can plug in his handset and head set there. Or he can use a loudspeaker as shown in the installation drawing for the VRC-8, 9, 10 in my photo album. Also available is a remote control box.

Get yourself a copy of TM 11-289 RT-66, -67, & -68 and TM 11-286 Radio Sets AN/VRC-8, -9, -10.

Speaker is not shown.

I guess I used a poor choice of words. I know where it connects to on the radio, I would like to know, when not in use where did the handset hang. It has a clip on the back but I do not see whet it clips to on the radio if indeed that is where it hung.

I have the correct canvas cover for my set and it has a strap that goes around the radio, I clip mine to that strap... It works well...

Hope this helps...

Check with a specialty radio shop for a stud that matches the receptacle on your handset. Fair Radio would be a good place to start.

As far as I know, or have seen, or used....
I have never seen an "official" place to attach a handset!
It alwats relied on the clip on the backside of the handset.
It was always a handy strap, or a circle of 550 cord to clip it on.
Sometimes the handset just jammed under a strap.
Sometimes the earpiece jammed under the internal helmet webbing.
You bump around a lot on foot or on vehicles, so it had to be reliable.
Indeed I often wondered "why no hook?" but not too long

I have the remote control mounted under the dash. I stow the mike in the rifle rack....
