Researching seals to replace on my jeep and found the parts manual gives the dimensions of the seal. Using the dimensions in the manual I found that a MS28775-012 packing is the same in size. I could just order the seals from any of the vendors but I'm curious if these will work.

They may work. Longevity may be an issue. MS28775 are Mil-Specked for use with MIL-H-5606 red hydraulic fluid. I would go with an engine oil specked O ring if you cannot locate Willys/Kaiser seals.

Well what I thought was going to be an issue turned out to not be anything. Since I have no prior knowledge of this jeep as far as the engine rebuild, I decided to change the oil. Glad to report that it has taken care of my smoking issue. The oil that was in the jeep seemed light weight and not knowing since it was rebuilt if the PO performed a break in procedure with a light weight oil and then didn't get a chance to change it prior to getting sick. I discovered there was no filter element in the oil canister so it was a good thing I changed it. Now my oil pressure went from non existent on the dash gauge to about 30 psi at idle.
My next problem was it ran terrible and sounded like a Briggs and Stratton engine. Pulled the plugs and of course they were fouled. So after cleaning them up, I decided to check the gap on the points. You guessed it, not even close to being correct. Well I readjusted them and now she runs great.
