Ok, I got myself turned around (no pun).

On the 1952 (Late) M38CDN.

Number One wire is it at the 5 O'Clock position on the distributor?

depends. 0500 or 1700 depending on if you're working on it early or late.. Laughing

Late model engine with geared cam... so CW on crankshaft, CCW on cam, CCW distributor....
