My new fuel gage hangs or sticks at zero everytime I turn the ignition switch on. When it does this I have tap on the gage to get it to move off zero to show tank level. I have taken particular attention to making sure sender and gage are properly grounded. I even soldered a very flexable wire to the sender arm and the vertical piece of the sender to prevent any future problems with continuity of the variable resistor connection to ground.
So what do you think could be making the gage stick?

Mine needs some seconds to react, it is still the original one. Try to set the ignition on and wait a moment, after a few seconds it will jump to the tank level. I grounded every gauge with a extra wire to be sure to have good ground connection. The reason is the gauge inside i thinck ....

I did wait awhile. Sometimes I even forget to tap it and drive off, then later notice it is still stuck.
