Bought a real rough Jeep yesterday,I think it's a MB by the look of the dash and other details inside the tub.The top of the transmission has a four bolt flange holding the main shifter in place. The bell crank is located on the front rearend housing and not on the front crossmember. The head on the engine has the supersonic script on it and the number on the boss above the waterpump is 3556093,correct engine? wrong head?or just that someone swapted out the engine at somepoint? There were two other spare heads in the tub we found after we cleaned all the other debris out.The tag on the inside of the front left frame looks like it's#170636?can't tell exactly.Anyone got any Ideas?
Looks like you have an Mb with a Kaiser engine. The MB would have had a chain drive engine with casting number 638632 and the MBxxxxx serial on the side pad behind the oil filter. _________________ Wes K

Wes,can you tell by simply looking at the shape of the exterior of the timming cover if it's chain or gear driven or do they look the same? or is the give away with this is that the sin# is above the water pump and not behind the oil filter?I guess what I am asking is if this could be a chain driven bolck that has had the head from a Kiezer installed at some point?
Thanks Dan
