Hi all,
where can I find the instuctions for testing the oil pressure sender on my M38, in fact all my m series. I've follwed the instructions for the gauge and it seems OK but I can't find the instructions for testing the sender unit.

The temp sensor can be immersed in water and the water heated and the temp monitored and compared to the resistance readings across the sender you can determine it's condition.
The gas sender can be moved through it's travel range and again it's resistance can be measured and used to determine the condition of the sender.
The oil pressure sender must have a precise fluid pressure applied to it and measured (input pressure) simultaneously while the ohm meter is used to record ohm readings for certain pressure settings. This is a little tough because a blast from the air hose doesn't work here. The preciseness of the input pressure can only be controlled with a quality fluid pressure manual pump. Preferably a screw type. _________________ Wes K

Hi Eric,
my ferry docks in Zeebrugge on Friday morning so I'll drive up to Eeklo to see the Pennys at their filling station then I'll drive down to the show.
With me on the ferry will be a WC52, Bedford MW, my M38 and may-be one of my bigger trucks it would be nice to get the M54 or M41 out.
I leave Zeebrugge on Monday evening.
After much head scratching I have managed to cure the oil in water problem on the M38....... I simply close the breather from the cross over tube, the engine still seems to breathe OK through the tappet cover to the intake manifold but now I have no condensation build up.
Something is clearly very wrong somewhere but I can't figure it out. Still it is a temporary fix till I can get a spare engine.
