I'm new to the world of military vehicles so go easy on me. I recently purchased a '52 M38A1. I don't actually have it yet but I should be picking it up in the hext 2 weeks.
I do know this about it.
9/52 s/n 1754
- The carb and brakes have been rebuilt and synthetic fluid added.
- It has repro back seat and top bows, original winter soft top, still 24V and almost complete.
- The carb is a civvie and the air cleaner assy has been removed.
- The gas tank was replaced 5 years ago.
- The tailgate was cut out, a replacement panel from another M38A1 which is currently just bolted into place to hold the gas can and spare.
- 5 original rims and tires, with 2 extra NDT tires in new condition.
- Jeep runs well, but the seals leak and the wiring should be replaced at some point.
Looking forward to a rolling renovation of some sort. I'll guess I'll determine what I'm going to do after I have it for a little while.
Before this I mostly worked on old motorcycles. Current project I'm working on. Its a Russian military motorcycle.
I'm sure you will be seeing more of me around, aspecially after I get it parked in my own garage.

Welcome Kevin!
I think you’ll find the people here are nice, knowledgeable, and are easy on everybody, especially newbie’s. So, Relax, put your feet up, and stay awhile.
Your A1 looks pretty good! Too bad they cut a tailgate into it. I'm sure you going to have fun restoring it and driving it around! You started off right, we LOVE pictures!!! Cool motorcycle!
Good luck on your new adventure! _________________ David M.

A few more pictures the seller sent to me.
The seller is a friend of mine. He also has a M715, at least that what I think he told me and that's what it looks like based on other pics I've seen. The jeep should be in my posession next weekend. Then the questions will start.

Welcome to the club! Looks like you've got a fantastic starter jeep . . . . admittedly while the chase for parts can be a fun part of this hobby, it is awfully nice to work on a jeep that has everything, just needing some refurbishing. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and there are no dumb questions (& if there are, I've got the market cornered on quantity). Hope you enjoy the Jeep! |

Cute little helper you got there!
He seems to be saying "Yep, Gerry Can is full & secured. Let's roll, Dad"!
