I started working on my front leaf springs yesterday. When compared to the parts manual, they look a bit different. The springs in the manual have clips with a bushing and a bolt towards the short side of the stack (at both ends). My springs have a clip that is wrapped around the stack with no bolts or bushings. Are these the correct springs or do I have a CJ version?

Thanks,

Dave

You could have either, if the clips have been changed.

Usually there clips with a bolt were on the center part and the bent ones were near the end.

Do you have a photo you could post?

The front spring smaller rebound clips were WO # 118037 (wrap around type) (Very Early M38s's) and the later small rebound clips WO # 119962 (bolted type) (Later M38's).

The rear spring smaller rebound clips were WO # 118057 (wrap around type) (Very Early M38s's) and the later small rebound clips WO # 119964 (bolted type) (Later M38's).

We have not nailed down a changeover point for these yet. I would guess it was sometime after August 1951.

I have some pictures but I have not tried posting pictures on this site yet. I also did some searching here and on G503 and looked at the TM more closely. One figure in the TM shows springs similar to mine.
