The bell housing you need is very plentiful. Old style bell with only two bolts holding the inspection cover on, with or without the provision for a boot around the clutch cable. Very early without and say 1951 thru May 52 with the boot type clutch cable hole. Both of these bell's will have the small bushing in their back face for the old style starter shaft. These are common to the MB, CJ2A, CJ3A and DJ3A.

I have several of the CJ-2A and the CJ-3A bell housings and know the will work. What I am looking for is a bellhousing for an early, befor SN# 50xxx that has the provisions for the fording plug and clutch boot that will also use the early starter. The CJ's do not have this but have the 2 bolt insp cover and will work with the early starter.

I was just looking for an early bell housing a few months ago. Most of the suppliers sell them for around $75 plus shipping. I found one for $50 in Phoenix and my buddy picked it up for me. Check with:

Army Jeep Parts
Midwest Military
Pete Debella
Ron Fitzpatrick

I bet they will all have one.
