Hi, I am finishing restsoration of early M38 #22797. Before I started the teardown, the one thing that worked well was the speedo. I bought a new cable but did not install it as it was a tad smaller in OD. We gave Leatherneck a short trial run and among other problems, we noticed that the speedo does not work now. I just disconnected it at the trans and immediately saw that the cable was broken about 4" from the trans. The best I can tell, this had to happen on the trial run.

Question: Has anyone had this experience? I first remembered that I had towed it for about 30 miles at up to 50 MPH; but later remembered that I drove it in the last 30 miles at not more than 45 MPH as that was all it had---mostly 25-35. I do remember that upon disassembly, I noted that there was trans oil in the cable. Am wondering if I have it routed right: a sharp bend from the trans to the inside of the frame and then a slow bend to the firewall, through and directly to the speedo.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Semper Fi Ben
