Hi Ryan, not in a second, we are having a real good exchange and it has helped me tremendously---made me think.

But, Wes or someone else needs to come in here and educate Ryan and me as to what is the case that is referred to on page 149 Ord 9 1955 which is same as 1951. Checked out the brackets mounting and have all five of them present and accounted for.

I am wondering if the case could be the gismo that the outside resistor goes into. I can not get mine apart to see if it is detachable. Ryan took his picture of the resistor detached from the gauge but does not have the rest of that gauge to view. The case is probably some danged thing that is very obvious but I just can't tell what it is.

If the case is related to the outside resistor, then you folks have it nailed. With the other information including that 3 resistors are whacked in the 55 manual, I 'd say that is good enough to convince but would still like to know what the case is.
