What is the difference between SW501C and SW 503C speedometers? According to the manual only the 503C was used in M38A1.

Hello,
Not sure which manual you are using but the M38 used both an AC unit and the SW 503A. The M38A1 manual lists the 503A as the first used which was superseded around 55 with the SW 503C. I have no idea where the 501 was used.

Thank you Wes for the answer, the most important thing is that it would not be "correct" for an M38A1.

My m38 has an AC speedo. Is that correct or a replacement? The m38 is a 3/52 unit. Thanks. Shawn

There hasn't been any cutoff date or serial discovered or made known yet concerning the switch (if there ever was one) from the AC speedo to any SW speedo for the M38. The 51 ORD 9 list only the AC. The 56 ORD nine list AC and then supercedes it with the SW without any serial data. This usually means the addition of the supercedure SW was a supply issue in the field and not a factory switch. For now I would consider the AC coreect for all M38 production until hard evidence otherwise shows up.
