Has anyone had any luck getting one of these apart to get to the bearings? Took it out because it was screaming like a banshee from $&%, no... more like a APU on F/A-18 spooling up...

Undone the 2 nuts and connector but it only come apart about 3/8".

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks,
Cody

Sounds like the brushes may be hanging up on the armature.....like maybe from a groove worn in the armature or a plate at the end of the segmented part. Is there a way to remove the brushes externally? If not you may need to find some way to hold them back. If its a permanant magnet motor the core of the armature may be magnetically sticking to the outside magnet. Good luck.

Try sliding the cases closed and chuck the shaft in a drill. have someone spin the armature with the drill while you are seperating the case halves. On some of those motors only one case half can be pulled off at a time.
