I got a little break in the weather and decided to attack my USMC M38a1. I'm most likely not got going to find hood numbers, as the jeep was sanded before a civilian paint job. However, I did find some strange unit markings. On the passenger fender and on the drivers rear quarter panel there is a yellow triangle with a red outline. Under that there is a yellow rectangle with a red outline. And below that there appears to be some army stenciling "Public Affairs". So this jeep started with an unknown army unit for public affairs then may have gone to the 5th Marines then to some unknown unit. I have been searching but I have not yet found the triangle for Marine markings. And the 5th was deactivated in California, yet this jeep came out of the Tennessee/North Carolina area. Could be the triangle for an armored unit in the army? Is there something else going on? I will get some pictures when, if, the rain ever stops again.

Photos would help a lot.

Many armor units have a triangular patch.

As to how the jeep ended up on th east coast is anybody's guess. Cool

I would like to see the location of these markings so I can look on mine.

Thanks.

Is the triangle solid yellow....and maybe in a red circle? Might have once belonged to a Civil Defense Unit somewhere after its military duty......
