Does anyone know if the bearings pressed into the clutch/brake petal crossshaft bracket for the M38A-1 are still available. In the ORD 9 manual they are listed as PN. 7372840. I've found a couple of suppliers for the entire bracket but my bracket is fine....I just need to replace the bearings. Also......if they aren't available anymore.....does anyone have the dimensional specs and inside finish (grooved, dimpled, spiraled) for these bearings so I can have a pair made at the machine shop? Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Jim

Jim,

You may have to take it to NAPA and find a similar sized bearing. I am sure it is of standard size.

That is an unusual question and it is one of those things where you will probably have to take the bearing out and go compare it to new ones for a replacement as it is not commonly asked for so an equivelant from today is not readily discernable.

Thanks for the info, Mr. Miller. I have since pressed out the two bearings in the old bracket and each one bears a diamond symbol with the number 8 in it. I don't know if that's relevant but its the only markings the bearings were carrying. To expedite gettin to the point of reassembly I've gone ahead and purchased a new bracket (with bearings) from Midwest Military. I'll probably go ahead and purchase two new bearings based upon the mic readings on the new shaft and new bracket and just put the bracket back on the shelf as a replacement spare.
