I'm installing a complete new exhaust system (less the vertical tail pipe) on this m38a-1. My question is......I see two places where the exhaust pipe is supported by the frame......it looks like these are pretty rigid hard point connections......is this correct.....or should I use a flexible rubber hanger in both places between the frame and the pipe? Also.....if I'm not attaching the vertical tail pipe would it be okay to saw off the rear flange and add a straight extension out to clear the side of the body.....or is there a flanged straight piece available for this? Thanks.

Both hangers were originally solid mounted. I prefer to use flexible hangers.

I've seen the short three bolt flange straight tips out there on the market. If you can't find one buy the correct size 3 bolt flange and weld on a custom formed tip that goes where you want it.

I did that. I had a spare flange and welded a piece to extend it out. I decided to put the vertical pipe on because the fumes were being pulled in when I had the top on. I don't know, maybe I didn't have the extention long enough though.

You can take a look on e-bay at this item: 350182963062. I think it would not take too much effort to make one.
