Jim,
Jeez. something isnt right. How could any significant other ask that you get rid of your stuff? Isn't that communism? Or at least can't you say that during your negotiations with her?
Post your location or your state so people know where you are.

The correct name for the trailer is "STRICK". This was a well-known trailer mfg company (still is???? dunno). There were a couple more builders during WWII (but I've lost their names. One was Dunbar-Kapple...and for the life of me I can't think of the other one! I keep wanting to say "Trailmobile" but that doesn't sound right! The ole memory box just ain't what it usta was! LOL!

I finally thought of the name of the other trailer builder!!! It's Ben Hur!!!! I shoulda known this stuff since I was a CAP Transportation Officer in 1974-1983 and had a fleet of those things scattered over the state! The most popular was Dunbar-Kapple, Ben Hur, and Strick. I believe there were some made by Trailmobile (not M100) and Fruehauf.
They were a pain to keep up with!!!!!

when we stripped the jeep down to metal those numbers were still there and thats what we put on there. are they original? to the best of my knowledge. Does anyone know if there is a way to look up the serial number and is it safe to put your serial number out on message boards. |

Hello Jim,
Looking up serial numbers will be the same for the M38A1, M38A1C and M38A1D since they all came from the same production line and serilization system used at Willys. We have a small data base started but I need more cooperation from owners to complete our survey and let me add their jeeps to the data base. Scott in Texas has the www.m38A1.com web site and he had a wopper of a data base/registry going on the site but he has had it removed for some reason for over a year now. What info do you hope to find by looking up your serial number?
Is it safe to post your serial? Yes as long as you are honest and did not steal the jeep!
Tom,
The same info I just posted applies to your situation. _________________ Wes K
