I know this has been taked to death BUT!
Repalcing the rear spring shackles on my 51 m38.
I have one right hand and one right hand/left hand.
I see Rapco sells a right hand/left hand shackle.
I only see the earlier post using right hand and left hand.
There is no talk of a right hand/ left hand.
What's correct. I do not think mine have been replaced.
thanks Confused

From the Operational and Organizational Maintenance Manual:

"The removal and installation procedures for the front and rear springs are the same except for the threading of the spring shackle bearings. The lower end of the left front and right rear spring shackles have left -hand threads. All other spring shackle ends are threaded right hand. Bearings threaded left hand are identified by nick in the center of each corner of the hexagonal head. Shackles threaded left hand have a forged boss on the lower shank of the shackle"

It can be confusing. To start with the ORD's refer to the "U" shaped shackles as both shackles and "U" bolts. Bottom line is you use four "U" bolts (Shackles). They have two threaded shafts on each. PN 7735833 has both shafts threaded right and this one goes on the right front spring and left rear spring. PN 7371090 has one right thread and one left thread. This one goes on the left front spring and right rear spring. It is installed with the left thread on the bottom. There are two type threaded bearings (often referred to as bushings). PN 7697598 is right threaded and used in 6 locations. PN 7697596 is left threaded and is used in two locations.
