Here is the underside. I tried to take it apart but I think I would have damaged it if I had, doesnt wat to turn out.

1. I wonder if there is a glue like substance to put on the threads so the screw piece doesn't have to be staked?
2. How would one tell how much to screw the piece in to make the adjustment for the check ball?
