Fellows,

My M38's 24V generator regulator just died... I'm having problems to find another one in good conditions here in Brazil.
So if some colleague knows about where I can find a good one to buy, please let me know!.

Thanks!

Luciano

Hello Luciano,

Which regulator did you have? Mechanical (Auto-Lite, Prestolite, Delco), or Transistorized ( Vap Air / Motorola )? The mechanicals are easily repaired and there is slowly surfacing some data and parts info to support repair of the others.

Auto-Lite (Prestolite) Mechanical

Delco Mechanical

Vap Air Transistorized

Hello Wesk,

What usually goes wrong with the mechanical ones, and who should we trust to fix them?

Thank you

Trust yourself and follow the Manual TM 9-1825B dated 1952 for Auto-Lite/Prestolite and TM 9-8627 Dated 1953 for Delco. The most common problem is dirty and sticking contacts. You clean and dress those contact points the same way you do ignition points. A very fine metal point file and a quality electric contact cleaner.
