I'm trying to get an M38 running. I don't have spark. All new tune-up parts. 24V distributor IAU40064UT. Plenty of power to the distributor, but minimal at the coil + terminal. Possible bad primary connector capacitor? .7 ohms resistance from the pin terminal to the coil + lead end. I have TM 9-1825B, but it doesn't have details electrical tests for the lead in. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. Greg

LIt looks like a defective capacitor. You should have plenty of power at + coil terminal.

Anyone know where I can get a new capacitor for the 24 volt ignition system?

I get mine from Midwest. You might want to get
a set of points also for the future.

One thing I ran into with my M38 is if you forget to turn the power switch off on the dash for a length of time, you can burn out the coil, condensor and points especially if the points are at their closest gap. I did this and it had no spark and was a giant pain in the flank since I had just replaced the points and condensor two days before. Very embarassing but, a valuable lesson. Just a thought, good luck.

The capacitor in the the power in receptacle is a radio noise filter and can be eliminated with a straight through wire. By gutting out the paper and cylinder and soldering a solid wire to the front pin with is's square mounting plate.
