I have a fender receptacle for (2 Pin) a military vehicle and want to change the cable lengths to fit my M38. Can someone tell me what the length should be?
Thanks. _________________ jackthebear46

I am on the road till Friday so all I can tell you now is the Positive cable runs from the reptacle to the positive battery cable terminal on the starter. Yje negative runs from the receptacle to the front support bolt on the starter. I have the lengths at home. _________________ Wes K

Note: Cable lengths = 33" and 29" (Short end grounds to the bracket at the front of the starter to engine block bracket. Long end goes to the starter switch).
Note: Later replacement receptacle had one long wire and one very short ground wire.
I don't have one (and shouldn't, based on the serial number), so I can't verify this. _________________ 1952 M38 - restoration in process, 1000 miles away...
The later replacements referred to are for the bigger trucks and were offered a lot thru surplus dealers. The serial cutoff would apply to a factory resto but for a motor pool class you should be aware the receptacles were added in the field when needed as in arctic heater kits and etc. _________________ Wes K

IVE GOT A NEW RECEPTICAL ONLY FOR MY M-38, IT WOULD APPEAR
THAT THE LEADS WOULD BE SOLDERED INTO THE RECEPTICAL.
IS THAT THE CASE?? _________________ keep 'em rollin'

Rick,
The TM that covers the Bendix/Scintilla electrical connectors is TM 9-1825E. I have the TM loaded on my photo storage site but that site is changing servers right now so the system is up and down a lot. But if you are patient you will be able to eventually access each page.
