Does anyone have any original wheels for the M38 they are willing to part with? I have two originals (with the little hole), and two K-H rims (without the little hole). I would like to replace the two K-H rims with the correct M38 wheels. I can live with the spare not being correct at this time.

Hal,

I contacted the seller, and unfortunately the wheels he has for sale, although off of an M38A1 are not original (No hole next to a lug nut).

I have been checking Ebay often, but never seem to find any wheels.

Thank you for the reply!

Adam,

Not all wheels are the same and you cannot always go by the extra little hole in the lug area.

Check out the rim document on the downloads section for a complete article on identification of M38 rims.

Good luck! Smile

The little 1/8" hole shows up on two wheels . The factory original M38 and early M38A1 (4.5 x 16 safety bead) wheels and the Willys truck (5.0x16) wheel. For late M38A1's and later spares replacement wheels there are several choices you'll find on the document Ryan referenced.

Ryan and Wes:

Thank you for the information! I printed out the article, and it is VERY helpful. Hopefully I can use it to locate and purchase several of the original 4.5x16 safety bead tires for my 51' M38.

Again-Thank you gentlemen for all the work and knowlege that you put into this web site.

Check out ebay item

Looks like it might be what you are looking for (at least 1 wheel anyway).
