Anybody know where to purchase a new 24volt aftermarket non-military distributor that is compatible with a 51 M38?

I have not seen any produced here in the US. Can you not find a stock distributor in Australia?

Not for the M38. Are MB & GPW distributors compatible to the M38?

The post WWII M series jeeps use the waterproof large housing distributor with a built in 24 volt coil. The WWII jeeps use a very small (in comparison) diameter 6 volt non water proof distributor with an external coil mounted on the block. So they do not easily interchange.

I find it hard to believe there are no sources in Australia for the stock 24 volt distributor.

These later models were not generally used by the services in Australia....there may have been a few that were trialled & left here, but the Austin Chump won out then they did not live up to expectations so they went with the LandRover.
Some MB/GPW's were still in service till the mid 60's as were the White Scout Cars & WLA Harleys by the hundreds....when they sold the bikes off for $250 a piece with <3000 miles!

That's not an aftermarket distributor. He offers the rebuilding of a core Auto-Lite/Prestolite distributor using a Pertronics pointless ignition plate. A tall investment for someone needing it shipped to Australia.
