There seems to be a point at which this indent on the passenger side floor disappears. The poll is to determine at about which serial this happens.

I have no photo of any M38 driver's floor with an indent.

Wes,
On your poll, you are asking 1 thing but with the 4 options, 2 of the answers would of been true in my case. I have an indent present on the pass but not on the driver. I opted to vote on the 1st option.

Mine doesn't have any of the indents, though it's possible the floor pans were replaced at some point.

Hello Bretto,

Let me explain:

Quote:
If you have this indent on your pass floor post your serial number.
pass side indent present
pass side indent not present
driver side indent present
driver side indent not present.

You mark the four response circles per your jeep. That is the pole.

Now if you do have the passenger side indent then the top question asks you to post your serial number as a response to this thread.

So in your case you check the the "Pass side indent present" and the "Driver side indent not present" then you vote and then you post a reply to this thread with your jeeps serial number just like Rick G and 78760 did.

Hello Bob,

Glad you posted. Did this indent stay in the CJ3A throughout production? I saw no reference to it in your 3A book.

I did a little poking around my photo files and found a 51 3A floor with it and a 53 CJ3B floor with it.

My M38 has only the passenger side indent. It is an early M38 with serial number 13282 (data plate) patent plate number 13097, which ever you care to believe. I tend to think that the patent plate is the correct number.
I also have a NOS floorboard/firewall unit that I will be installing in this M38. According to Ryan's book the NOS floorboard/firewall unit is a late M38 firewall based on the hole locations in the firewall and it also has the floor indent on the passenger side.
I don't have anyway of knowing the age of the replacement floorboard/firewall unit but would guess that it could be one that was constructed from new and old floorboard and firewall components around the time of the change over that Wes mentioned in the other posts about this topic.
Wes, I don't know if it would tell you anything but I can contact the man I purchased it from and see if he can tell me if the other NOS floorboard/firewall units he has left also have the indent in them and which firewall they have if you would like.

My 49 3A, 3/52 M38 (60604) , and my mid 50's 3B all have the indent on the passenger side. I have never seen a civilian jeep or M38 with the indent on the drivers (left) side. I would like some photo evidence of any if possible. Why would CJ3B's still have it but have it discontinued on the M38 production??? Doesn't make sense to me.

Keats.

No one has seen a driver's side indent. But the first post about this subject aluded to one on each side in the MB's but I have not been able to find any driver's side MB's either. I have seen two CJ3B's with it also but they were 1953 and I haven't seen any CJ5's with it. I believe the few M38's with no indent have replacement floors that came without indents.
